There have been some big changes for me this week. After nearly two years back in Australia it was time to upgrade our house/office/studio… and last weekend after a truck load and umpteen car trips the move was made.
There are many exciting things on the radar for Veggies & Me and our new place at Abbotsford (on the banks of the Parramatta River in Sydney) provides the space to get creative, breath fresh air straight off the water, cook for friends and even grown my own.
The truck was loaded, the new place set up, the view admired, recovery food and drinks devoured, the table set and the first dinner with friends enjoyed.
The new place has a modest community garden and plenty of space for pots and even a vertical garden. I am putting the word out… as a soon to be “veggie grower”: what tips can you give me for backyard permaculture? Please hit me up with any advice or suggestions on great places to find heirloom seedlings, great quality organic potting mix and safe pest control in the Sydney area.
Watch this space!
Why don’t you make your own organic potting mix? I recall some time back that Gardening Australia had some fact sheets on the topic and it seemed relatively ‘easy’ to do.
Thanks so much Cee. I will check that out. I love Gardening Australia and was really concerned about the quality of potting mix available commercially. Megan
I bought a big batch of tomato seeds from the strawberry farm on the way down from Brisbane. The name alludes me – this one. http://www.foodmyfriend.com/2012/10/ricardoes-tomato-and-strawberry-farm/. Ricardoes. I think you can order online. Otherwise diggers online!
Thanks Cass. I have just discovered Diggers and I love them already.
